In Gaza, there has been a great tragedy of humanity. The whole world is not reacting to it as if they were all deaf and blind. The Israeli government has lost its discernment and attack cruelly by putting the children in front of guns. In Ramadan, the holy month of Islamic world, people are having their iftar meal through the bombs with tears, grief and sorrow. Unfortunately, everyone, who closes their eyes to these cruel people and this kind of cruelty, is a sharer of that violence.
The whole world, especially Islamic, have to be together and display a common attitude in cooperation and solidarity towards actions of Israeli government, which aims our Muslim brothers and Islamic values.
Israeli government will end up with nothing by these cruel attacks. However; the more people pass it by and are silent towards these, the more they will listen to the stories of the children who passed away.
As the Rectors of universities in Turkey, with the signs below, we vigorously condemn the air strike and ground attacks of occupant Israeli government aimed at Gaza strip on 8th July 2014. We vehemently condemn these attacks, which are against the human rights and international law, and in which more than 350 Palestinians, including innocent children and women amongst, have been killed and thousands have been injured.
This is not the first attack of occupant Israeli government and this is one more clear violation of international law. The basic reason why Israel became more aggressive is the obvious support of USA, EU, Arabic governments and especially UN. International society is passing by Israel’s policies, which are crimes of humanity and war. But, it has been expected that regional and international actors apply result oriented pressure policy with an obvious attitude towards Israeli government.
It has been expected by international public opinion that The United Nations Security Council who has a mission to protect international order, and has been confirmed as a failure many times, should as soon as possible make a decision to set sanctions on Israel and should condemn Israel because of these attacks. Although UN has dozens of decisions on Israeli government, it is extremely thought – provoking that UN does not have any sanctions on Israeli government.
We as Rectors of universities in Turkey declare that we will;
· take all sorts of responsibility to build public opinion against massacre on national and international platforms,
· start funding and aid campaigns in all universities around Turkey to support our brothers in Gaza,
· use all sorts of legal procedures to make Israel pay compensation for the sufferers either killed or wounded in Gaza,
· follow the procedure of those, who are in charge of this massacre, being questioned and punished in the eye of international law.
· initiate international public opinion to eradicate illegal blockade and occupation against Gaza,
· that we support the demand of our brothers, who live in a prison-like condition in their own homeland, establishing independent State of Palestine with the capital city Jerusalem,
· stop our all kind of academic, cultural and social relations with Israeli universities that do not blame the massacre of Israeli Government, until that non-human massacre against our brothers in Gaza is stopped and Gaza blockade is removed,
· continue our all kind of academic, cultural and social relations with Israeli universities and Jew academicians that react, raise their voice and protest against the massacre of Israeli government,
· give all kind of support to Jew societies and citizens who protest Israeli government for the sake of oppressed people of Palestine suffering and being killed in their own land, while they live in safe and peace away from their country.
May Allah’s peace and mercy be upon our casualties killed in the attacks of Zionist Israel, May their beloved ones accept our condolences, and May the injured get well soon.
